DECEMBER 20, 2023 — A national network developed by the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) is levying the talents and skills of renowned academic, research and investment organizations including 世界杯官方app. Known as ARPANET-H, this organization has a singular goal: to accelerate new high-risk, high-reward technologies that will improve the delivery of innovative health care solutions.
ARPANET-H is centered around three U.S. hubs working together to accelerate breakthroughs in science and medicine. Together, they aim to reach a large population of the American public building a nationwide health innovation network that connects people, innovators and solutions.
Among those three hubs is a Customer Experience Hub (CXHub), headquartered in Dallas, Texas and valued at $2.5 billion, that will spur the development of new methods to improve the efficacy and accessibility of health care solutions. The hub’s partners are focusing on diversifying clinical trials, reaching representative patient populations and achieving more equitable health outcomes.
Meanwhile, the Investor Catalyst Hub, headquartered in the Greater Boston area, is leveraging researchers, entrepreneurs and investors to speed the transition of health care ideas into practical, accessible solutions, and a Stakeholder and Operations hub slated in or near the nation’s capital, will work with federal partners to bring these health care solutions to market.
Initial meetingsThe Customer Experience Hub, established in fall 2023, has started working with research and academic institutions in San Antonio, Austin, Houston and around the state to explore collaborative opportunities.
This week many of the hub’s partners gathered in San Antonio for the inaugural ARPA-H Hub Workshop. The workshop provided an opportunities for partners from around Texas to learn more about their hub and how the partners will work together to make health care solutions more accessible and adoptable.
San Antonio alone is home to a $44 billion health care and biomedicine industry.
“It was energizing to meet with other members of the Customer Experience Hub this week and to explore how we can work together to accelerate projects that will change the way the United States delivers health care, particularly to diverse populations,” said JoAnn Browning, 世界杯官方app interim vice president of Research, Economic Development and Knowledge Enterprise. “We can see already the many opportunities available to leverage the innovation, intellectual curiosity and entrepreneurial spirit that drives our Texas hub.”
“As an environment that is known for its commitment to research and development, 世界杯官方app is well-positioned to make impactful contributions that help ARPA-H solve some of the most pressing challenging in human health,” Browning continued.
The Advancing Clinical Trial Readiness (ACTR) Initiative, which will focus on creating new clinical trials that are tailored to representative patient populations, was one of the key initiatives the partners explored this week.
The ACTR aims to enable 90% of all eligible Americans to take part in a clinical trial within a half hour of their home by working with groups across the country, including innovators, industry, patients, academia, hospital centers, community health centers, and non-traditional partners, such as retail pharmacies or home health innovators, to build faster, less expensive trials with decentralized processes.
The effort will also build trials that operate closer to, or at, points of care and are representative of the nation’s geography, age, gender, race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic groups.
ARPA-H is a research funding agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that supports biomedical and health care breakthroughs that will benefit patients from across the country. The agency’s four focus areas include:
“ARPA-H has an enormous opportunity and responsibility to improve the well-being of all Amercians,” stated ARPA-H Director Renee Wegrzyn in a press release in September. “Through this nationwide hub-and-spoke network, ARPANET-H will enable ARPA-H to create breakthrough capabilities and achieve health outcomes for everyone that are accessible, tangible and measurably better.”
